Portrait
Jana and Chris met Hannah and I at the Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve located in Cary, NC for a great session! This is my current favorite of the bunch. There are so many great images to choose from. Thanks goes to Jana for being such a great sport about posing around man eating mosquitos.
This portrait of James, was taken at the NC Museum of Art located in Raleigh, NC. The shoot thru umbrella was positioned slightly above his eye line and to camera left. You can see the original unedited image here on Flickr.

Photo editing was relatively minor, a small color correction and cropping. You can see the original unedited image here on Flickr.
This portrait of Lawana smiling was taken at the JC Raulston Arboretum located in Raleigh, NC. The shot was lit with a single shoot thru umbrella positioned above and to camera right. Located just to the left of the frame, a 2'x3' piece of foamcore was used as a reflector.

This portrait of my daughter Hannah and Snuggle Puppy is the result of my first session using a strobist lighting setup. Strobist lighting is a method of lighting using off camera strobes (flash), and radio transceivers made popular by David Hobby's strobist blog www.strobist.blogspot.com. I lit this shot using a shoot thru umbrella located above, and to camera right.
